Before you book

Frequently
asked.

Everything people ask us — including the things we would rather say up front

01

Can we book just one bedroom?

No. The house is let whole, never by the room. You will not cross paths with another guest during your stay: both buildings, the pool, the pool house and the garden around them are yours alone.

This is an entirely private let, not a B&B and not a hotel. You feel the difference most in the morning, when the long table in the pool house is laid for nobody but you.

02

How many people can stay?

Twelve people at most, across six bedrooms.

Five are in the Ancien Pressoir, the timber-framed Normandy house: two interconnecting Suites Coloniales on the ground floor, two Junior Suites upstairs under the open oak roof, and La Chambre Soleil with its four-poster bed. The sixth is on the mezzanine in the Pool House, above the water.

Having friends or family over during the day is no trouble at all, as long as you tell us. The number of people sleeping here, however, cannot exceed twelve: it governs both the insurance and the property's registration as a holiday let.

03

Does every bedroom have its own bathroom?

Almost. La Junior Suite Rose and La Chambre Soleil share a bathroom — the Rose also has its own private cloakroom. The other four bedrooms each have their own.

We would rather say so here than let you find out on arrival: with twelve people it changes how you hand out the bedrooms, particularly if there are several couples.

04

Is the pool heated?

Yes. The pool is fifteen metres, in-ground and heated, open from May to October. Outside that period it is closed and out of bounds.

There is no lifeguard: watching the children falls to the adults present, at all times. The garden is large and the pool is not visible from every room in the house — worth bearing in mind if you are coming with small children.

05

Is the house suitable for young children?

There is no shortage of walled garden, long table or room to run about. But two things are worth knowing before you book.

La Pool House bedroom is a mezzanine open to the living room below, reached by a ladder : it suits neither young children, nor anyone who gets up in the night, nor anyone with limited mobility. And the pool, as above, is unsupervised.

The other five bedrooms present no difficulty, two of them on the ground floor.

06

Are pets allowed?

Yes, your animals are welcome, under your responsibility and provided you tell us when you book.

They are not left alone in the buildings or the garden, they do not go on the beds, they do not swim in the pool, and you pick up after them. That's all.

07

What is the minimum stay?

It depends on the season: two nights off-season, three during the French school holidays, four in high summer.

School holidays here mean those of zone B, which covers Normandy — the French calendar, not the British one.

08

How far away is everything?

The house is at Trouville-la-Haule, in the Eure, between Honfleur and Rouen.

  • Honfleur — 30 minutes
  • Deauville — 40 minutes
  • Paris — 1 hr 40
  • Pont-Audemer, the nearest town — 10 minutes
  • Jumièges Abbey and its activity park — 45 minutes

Secure parking is included, within the grounds.

09

Can we hold a wedding, a birthday or a company retreat?

It is possible, but only by prior written agreement. Parties and events open to people outside the booking are not permitted as a rule.

An event takes preparation: our agreement may come with particular conditions on price, deposit and insurance. Talk to us before you book rather than the night before — we will say yes far more readily.

10

What are the arrival and departure times?

Arrival between 3pm and 6.30pm, departure before noon. The day after each stay is given over to putting the house back in order, which is why these times are held to.

Some flexibility is possible depending on the booking calendar, but ask in advance.

11

What is included in the price?

The whole house, water, electricity and heating, all bed and bath linen changed for every stay, high-speed Wi-Fi in both buildings, secure parking and use of the heated pool in season.

Added to the quote are the end-of-stay cleaning fee of €150, charged once per stay.

12

How do we book?

You choose your dates in the availability calendar and request a quote. No payment is asked for at this stage, and we reply within 48 hours.

The quote is valid for thirty days. The booking becomes firm once the signed contract is returned and a 30% deposit paid, with the balance due three months before arrival. You may also pay in full at the time of booking. Card or bank transfer.

13

What is there to do nearby?

Honfleur and its Vieux Bassin thirty minutes away, the Toutainville lakes for fishing and waterskiing at ten, kayaking on the Risle, Jumièges Abbey and its activity park, a nine-hole course on the route des étangs, two children's farms, and enough in Pont-Audemer to fill a wet day between bowling, trampolines and an escape room.

The detail, with addresses, opening times and prices, is on the Nearby.

14

Can we smoke?

Not indoors: both buildings are entirely non-smoking. Outside there are ashtrays. The timber framing, the roof structure and the wisteria are old and dry, hence the firmness on this one.
